New Carbide Blades available on the VC-60

The field testing of the New Carbide (Verti-Cutter) Blades is complete and we will offer a new Verti-Cutter shaft option with Carbide Blades. Field test show the carbide blades last approximately two to three times longer than steel blades. (Actually each customer will decide when the blade is worn based on personal preference so establishing a set hour replacement is subjective.)
The price is obviously higher; a new machine cost 10% more when equipped with carbide blades but considering the extended blade life and the quality of cut last much longer than steel blades it may be worth the additional cost.
For new customers we will offer two VC-60 part numbers one with steel blades and one with carbide blades so it is our intention to let the customer decide if carbide blades are worth the additional cost. We wanted to offer carbide blades as an option and not limit the customer to one choice only. In fact we have received very few complaints about the life of steel blades but we do see an improvement in quality of cut throughout the life of the blade.
We will offer up-grade kits to allow the current steel blade VC-60 to up-grade and install the new carbide blades so it is an option for current users to up-grade to carbide blades.
However, ultimately it’s the customer’s choice to decide if carbide blades work better for his application and now he has the option.
